Missing Teeth Shouldn’t Mean Missing Out

One team, one place, from first scan to final tooth.

Implant care happens here, from consultation through restoration, at our Maple Lawn and Hampstead offices, so most patients are never sent elsewhere.

What a Dental Implant Actually Is

It replaces the tooth from the root up, which is why it behaves like a real one instead of resting on your gums.

The crown: custom-matched to the teeth beside it.

The abutment: the connector joining post to crown.

The titanium post: threaded into the jawbone, where it fuses over several months to form a permanent root.

The image shows a three-dimensional model of a human mouth with teeth and gums, featuring two front teeth with a visible dental implant screwed into one side, and a small metallic tool inserted into the base of the implant.

The first real question

Am I Even a Candidate?

Most adults missing teeth are, including plenty who were told they weren’t. A scan is the only way to know for certain.

Implants are often a good fit if

  • You’re missing one tooth, several, or all of them
  • A denture or partial shifts, clicks, or limits what you eat
  • A failing tooth, bridge, or root canal keeps needing repair
  • Your gums are healthy, or treatable
  • You’d rather solve it once than keep patching it

Told you’re not a candidate? Ask us anyway

  • Bone loss. Grafting and mini implants open the door for many who were turned away.
  • Dental anxiety. Sedation options available at every stage.
  • Diabetes or other conditions. Well-managed health rarely rules implants out.
  • A previous no. Imaging has changed. Worth a second look.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are dental implants painful?

+

Implant placement itself is done with local anesthetic, and most patients are surprised by how manageable it is, often comparing it to having a tooth removed. Conscious sedation and nitrous oxide are available at Fresh Dental Group for every stage of care, so anxiety doesn't have to be the reason you wait. Afterward, most discomfort is mild soreness handled with over-the-counter pain relievers for a few days.

How long does the whole implant process take?

+

It depends on your anatomy and whether preparatory work is needed. Placement itself is a single appointment, and most patients return to work the next day. The implant then needs time to fuse with the jawbone before the final restoration is attached; this healing phase is what makes implant treatment span months rather than weeks. Your exact timeline is mapped out at your planning visit, before anything is scheduled.

How long do dental implants last?

+

The implant post itself is designed to be permanent, and with good hygiene and regular checkups many last a lifetime. The crown on top is the part that may eventually need replacement after years of normal wear, much like any other restoration. Caring for an implant is essentially the same as caring for a natural tooth: brush, floss, and keep your regular hygiene visits.

Can I get implants if I've been told I have bone loss?

+

Often, yes. Bone loss is one of the most common reasons patients are told they aren't candidates, but bone grafting can rebuild the foundation, and mini dental implants require less bone than traditional implants. Dr. Resh holds a Fellowship with the Academy of Mini Dental Implants specifically for cases like these. If you were turned away before, a 3D scan at Fresh Dental Group is worth the second look.

Does insurance cover dental implants?

+

Coverage varies widely: some plans classify implants as a covered restorative benefit, others treat them as elective and cover only the crown or extraction portion. We verify your specific benefits before treatment and present the actual numbers, so there are no surprises. Whatever insurance doesn't cover, monthly financing options are available through our partners.

What does a dental implant cost?

+

Cost depends on how many implants you need, whether preparatory work like extraction or grafting is required, and the type of restoration. Rather than quote a number that may not apply to you, we give you a complete written cost at your planning visit (implant, restoration, imaging, everything) alongside your insurance breakdown and monthly payment options. You'll know the full picture before you commit to anything.

Will my implant look natural?

+

That's the goal, and it's why the restoration is custom-made rather than off-the-shelf. Your crown is matched to the shape, shade, and translucency of the teeth around it, and because an implant is anchored in the bone like a natural root, it sits in your smile the way a real tooth does. Most people can't tell which tooth is the implant.

Are implants better than a bridge or denture?

+

For most patients, yes, because implants replace the root, not just the visible tooth. A bridge relies on grinding down healthy neighboring teeth for support, and dentures rest on the gums, which can shift and allow the jawbone to shrink over time. An implant stands on its own and helps preserve the bone around it. That said, bridges and implant-supported dentures are still the right answer for some situations, which is what your consultation sorts out.
